UAS Exam Prep FAQs

The International UAS Exam is a joint digital entrance exam of the Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS), used for selecting students to study programmes leading to a bachelor’s degree and conducted in English. The entrance exam is completed by the applicant’s own computer remotely online.

Students, who wish to study in Finland, must note that there are two intake seasons for Finland universities; Autumn intake and Spring intake. Out of these two, Autumn intake is the primary intake and maximum number of students apply in the autumn intake.

With the amended law, the time spent living in the country with a residence permit for studies will now be counted towards that four-year requirement. This makes things much more convenient for international students and gives them a quicker pathway toward permanent residency in Finland.

The UAS exam is conducted in English and includes sections that are relevant to the academic program you’re applying for. The exam includes both universally applicable sections and sections tailored to specific domains of study.

You take the exam on your own computer, which must meet certain hardware and software requirements. You must use a Chrome browser with the SMOWL LOCK extension enabled. You’ll also need a working camera, microphone, and a screen with a minimum resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels.  

The final selection is based on the cumulative score of the exam, considering the sum of scores from relevant sections for the chosen study program. Applicants not meeting program-specific criteria won’t be selected.
